The planned thesis will develop virtual physical-to-logical, logical-to-logical, and
logical-to-exposed schema mappings, enabling alternative representations of data
without requiring materialization. The approach combines a catalog-integrated
mapping model, operations for creating and validating mappings, user-interface
support, and query-planning mechanisms that translate queries over mapped targets
into operations on underlying data sources.
