Interactive Query Combination in Mixed Reality: Merging Multimedia Retrieval Spheres (Bachelor Thesis, Ongoing)
Description
Immersive visualization in mixed reality offers novel ways to interact with complex datasets. One exciting approach is to use 3D multimedia spheres to represent query results visually. Each sphere contains multimedia data points, such as images, videos, or 3D models, and provides an intuitive, spatial way for users to explore search results.
This project proposes an innovative interaction mechanism where users can combine or refine queries by physically merging multimedia spheres in the mixed reality space. For example, users can “throw” one sphere at another to create a new query that combines their respective data points. This interactive approach allows for playful, intuitive query refinements and supports complex multimedia retrieval tasks.
The project will leverage Vision Pro’s advanced spatial interaction capabilities to develop and evaluate this query combination mechanism.
